Meghan Markle ‘side-eyes’ Prince Harry in ‘extremely tense’ joint interview moment

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sat down for a joint interview to launch their new project, The Parent Network – but some people think the pair seemed ‘tense’ and shared an awkward glance

Royal fans think Meghan Markle gave Prince Harry the ‘side-eye’ in their latest joint interview.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared together on CBS Sunday Morning where anchor Jane Pauley spoke to them about their latest initiative, The Parent Network. The platform, which launched over the weekend, aims to bring together parents who have lost children “directly or indirectly” as a result of social media use – for example, after being cyber-bullied.

The couple even shared insights into their own struggles with loss and mental health and said they hoped they could help their own children to navigate our rapidly changing world. At one point, however, fans noticed an odd look. It came when Pauley remarked: “Well, you hope that when your children ask for help, someone, you know, is there to give it.”

Harry then interrupted: “If you know how to help,” to which Meghan hummed in agreement. However, one royal fan noticed she didn’t seem pleased with her husband’s interjection.

“Catch that quick side eye Meghan Markle gives Prince Harry when he interrupts,” a user posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Holy S*** … that’s frightening.”

Another agreed: “Wonder what she’s worried about. She looks extremely tense.”

Later in the interview, Pauley said: “This is a modest beginning, you know, it’s not an army of parents yet.” At that point Meghan could be seen smiling, but users thought she may have not been pleased with the comment.

“Meghan Markle did not like Jane Pauley’s comment about their parent’s group launch being a modest beginning,” they commented.

WARNING: The following clip contains distressing themes

Now royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has shared his insights on the impact of the interview on Meghan and Harry’s public perception. “Their body language seemed serious which was appropriate for the topic under discussion,” he observed.

“This was aimed at an American audience and will have gone down well. […] Her programme about entertaining and cookery for Netflix is reportedly ready and her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard is gradually being launched. This CBS interview will be seen as a positive and a boost for Archewell, their charitable foundation.

“Newsweek has reported better polling figures for Meghan earlier in the year and their forthcoming trip to Colombia, linked to the campaign against online bullying, is certain to be handled so it gets the maximum publicity.”
