Tips and Tricks

Toilet flushing weak and no suction? Here’s a tip to help you avoid wasting money calling a plumber

1. Check the flush valve impulse first.

Locate the flush valve, which has one side completely and the other half flushed. To examine where the water level of the water tank decreases, immediately pierce one of them with your finger, then watch the toilet’s momentum.

Once the water tank is filled, immediately pierce another one with your finger, check the toilet’s flush level, and then determine if the tank’s water level is completely or partially flushed.

To find out if there is a noticeable difference between the impulse and hitting the toilet lid button, try a couple more times. You can close the toilet lid and check and compare again; if there is no difference, the impulse is not ideal, it is the problem of the flush valve, and it should be considered to replace it.

The two screw bars of the toilet lid button need to be adjusted if there is a difference, which indicates that there is a problem with the button. The adjustment procedure is as follows:

  • Turning the button’s two screw bars a few times
  • Replacing the water tank lid
  • Touching the button to feel the gap
  • Adjusting it to no more than two or three millimeters.

2. Check the size of the flush rod

A tiny amount of water will flow down and the toilet flush will be weak if the flush rod is cut too short because the flush valve will not be fully opened when the flush is pressed. You must measure the flush rod precisely before cutting in order to correct this.

3. Check the flush handle or the flush button of the toilet

It will not be possible to flush the water if the fixed nut on the flush handle is not tightened or the flush handle is broken. Therefore, in order for the water from the toilet to flow down strongly enough, you need to tighten the nut or replace the lever or the flush button if necessary.

4. Check the toilet vent system

If you do not know how to check the toilet vent, please contact a professional for early support.

5. Check if there is a blockage at the water supply line or siphon

You must ensure that the water supply line to the toilet or siphon is not obstructed by any obstruction. If you check and find a blockage, you should clear it immediately to confirm the toilet flushes well.

6. How to prevent a toilet from flushing weakly and draining slowly

To avoid and prevent this slow-draining toilet from happening again, you should draw attention to 5 things as follows:

  • Never toss waste, such as cigarette butts or shampoo packets, into the toilet at random.
  • Toilet paper should never be thrown into the toilet.
  • After using the toilet, always close the lid.
  • Once a month, periodically unblock the toilet.
  • To dispose of waste, put a tiny trash can in the restroom.
