British Man Survives Devastating Air India Crash – Family Shares Emotional Response
In an extraordinary turn of events, a British passenger has been confirmed as a survivor of the Air India crash that occurred earlier today, June 12, in Ahmedabad, western India. The tragedy involved a passenger plane carrying 242 people, including over 50 British nationals. Initial reports from authorities stated there were no survivors, sending shockwaves across international media.
However, hope emerged when it was revealed that one of the passengers—Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a long-time UK resident—had miraculously lived through the crash. He described the terrifying ordeal to Hindustan Times, recalling a loud bang just seconds after takeoff, followed by chaos and disorientation.
“It happened so fast,” he shared. “I had injuries on my chest, my eyes, and feet. When I came to, I was surrounded by bodies and wreckage.”
Ramesh, still in shock, said he managed to flee the wreckage on foot until emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital.
Back in Leicester, the survivor’s family has now spoken publicly about the incident. His relative, Ajay Valgi, confirmed in an interview with the BBC that Ramesh had contacted his family to say he was alive and being treated. The family, understandably shaken, is still awaiting news about Ramesh’s brother, Ajay, who is feared to have also been aboard the same flight.
“We were just shocked when we heard,” said Ramesh’s brother, Nayankumar, outside the family home. “He told us, ‘I have no idea how I survived.’”
According to family accounts, Ramesh sustained injuries to his face and was “covered in blood” when he was found, yet somehow managed to escape from the debris.
Although Ramesh was born in India, the BBC confirmed that he has been living in the UK for many years, where he built a life with his wife and young child.
This remarkable story of survival stands in stark contrast to the overwhelming loss of life from today’s crash. As investigations continue, Ramesh’s account will likely offer key insights into what happened in those final moments aboard the doomed aircraft.
