Lip reader worked out what Prince Louis really said to Kate after stealing show at King’s birthday parade

As London prepares for a wave of royal enthusiasts celebrating the King’s official birthday this weekend, many eyes are once again turning to a younger royal who has quietly become a fan favorite: Prince Louis.

At just seven years old, Prince Louis has built a charming reputation during public appearances — known for his candid reactions, cheeky expressions, and spontaneous remarks that often outshine the formalities of royal events.

This weekend’s Trooping the Colour ceremony, the annual event held in honor of the monarch’s official birthday, is expected to draw large crowds to the Mall. Though King Charles is the reason for the celebration, royal watchers are secretly hoping for another delightful moment from the youngest son of Prince William and Princess Catherine.

A Royal Tradition — With a Twist of Humor

For more than 260 years, Trooping the Colour has marked the sovereign’s ceremonial birthday, complete with military pageantry, a balcony appearance from the Royal Family, and a spectacular RAF flypast. This year marks King Charles’ third time leading the festivities as monarch, but history has shown that he often shares the spotlight — willingly or not.

Last year, Prince Louis made headlines alongside his siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, during the balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace. While the grown-ups maintained their formal poses, Louis couldn’t hide his excitement.

“Papa, Look at All That Colour!”

One of the most memorable moments came during the flypast, as Louis marveled at the colorful trails left by the jets soaring above. According to professional lip reader Gaby Lane, the young prince turned to his father, Prince William, exclaiming: “Papa, Papa, Papa, look at all that colour!”

Princess Kate reportedly responded with a warm smile, gently telling Louis the planes had already “dispersed.” The exchange, though brief, highlighted the sweet bond between the young prince and his parents.

Sibling Sass: Charlotte Keeps Louis in Line

It wasn’t just the jets that caught Louis’s attention — the parade itself inspired quite a bit of commentary and even a little dance. While standing at Horse Guards Parade, Louis was spotted moving to the music of the Scots Guards. But not everyone was amused.

According to lip reading expert Nicola Hickling, Princess Charlotte tried to keep her younger brother focused. She was seen reminding him: “You have to stop doing that. Watch the parade.” Louis’s playful defiance shone through with his reply: “I won’t,” followed by a cheeky “Nope.”

Earlier, during the national anthem, Charlotte had reportedly told him to “put your hands down,” showing her growing sense of royal duty — and big sister responsibility.

Captivated by the Crowd

Another heartwarming moment came during their carriage ride down the Mall. Sitting beside his mother, Prince Louis was reportedly in awe of the crowd size, pointing and saying: “Look over there, Ma.”

Princess Kate’s response, according to Lane, was calm and attentive: “Right, look at that.” It was a small but touching mother-son exchange, showing the royal children’s sense of wonder amid all the grandeur.

Why Louis Continues to Charm the Nation

While royal protocol and tradition guide much of what the public sees during events like Trooping the Colour, it’s moments like these — full of personality and relatability — that remind the world that the Royal Family includes children just being themselves.

Prince Louis may be young, but his natural curiosity and honesty have made him an unofficial star of the show. And if this weekend is anything like the last, the crowd may find their eyes drifting once more to the young prince who never fails to make royal history feel just a little more human.
