I never imagined I’d become involved with a married man. I was raised with strong values, and knowing I played a role in breaking up a family still haunts me. But what’s done is done. When Jack and I met, he was still married—and everything in my life has changed since then. Now, I’m pregnant and feeling lost. I don’t know what to do anymore. I need guidance.
Jack was a new colleague at work. He had a wife and two kids, but from the beginning, the chemistry between us was undeniable. By our second date, he told me he loved me and planned to leave his wife of 20 years. He spoke poorly of her—called her unattractive, uneducated, and selfish—and said he couldn’t stand being with her any longer.
Now I’m four months pregnant. And everything turned upside down last night.
Out of the blue, Jack’s wife—Kate—called me. I was shocked she knew who I was. She knew my name, age, where I lived, and that I was expecting Jack’s baby. But what really surprised me was how calm she was. She didn’t yell or insult me. Instead, she introduced herself with grace and said she had something important to share. She asked to meet in a nearby café. I agreed.
Looking back, I wish I had talked to Jack first and pushed him to be honest with her. But instead, I went to meet Kate—and that meeting changed everything.
Kate asked me not to mention anything to Jack. She said he’d likely try to stop me, but she had something to say that I deserved to hear. So I lied to Jack, telling him I was seeing a friend in the city. I tried to act normal, even though my heart was pounding.
When I got to the café, I recognized Kate right away. We had never met, but she carried herself with confidence and elegance—nothing like how Jack had described her.
But then came the shock: she didn’t come alone.
Her children, Lily (15) and Randall (10), were with her. They greeted me like I was just a friend of their mom—not the woman carrying their father’s baby.
Then, with an eerie calm, Kate said, “This is Rebecca, your dad’s mistress.” The kids didn’t even react. I was stunned.
Kate didn’t waste time. She looked me in the eyes and said, “Let me get straight to the point.”
She told me she had known about Jack’s affairs for years, and while she had come to terms with them, having another child in the picture changed things. That’s why she wanted to meet.
Then something even more unexpected happened.
Her daughter, Lily, said they wanted to meet their baby brother or sister. I didn’t know what to say. That’s when Kate dropped another bomb: she had divorced Jack five months ago—something he never told me.
She explained that since I was having his child, she wanted her kids to know their sibling, and for my child to grow up knowing them too. I was speechless. It felt surreal and honestly, a little strange.
I couldn’t imagine being that kind if I were in her shoes. I doubted teenagers would want anything to do with their father’s affair child. But then Lily said something that touched me deeply—she said she already loved her baby sibling and couldn’t wait to spoil them and be a great big sister. Randall agreed, smiling at the idea of having a younger sister. I saw sincerity in their faces.
I left that café overwhelmed and full of mixed emotions. I haven’t told Jack about any of this. I didn’t know he was already divorced, and now his ex-wife and children want to welcome my baby with open arms.
I’m confused, emotional, and torn. What should I do next?
