Prince William issues ‘proud’ statement after King Charles cancer update

Prince William, a longtime supporter of Aston Villa FC, has shared a heartfelt message for England’s women’s football team as he heads to Basel, Switzerland.

Posting to social media, the Prince of Wales wished the Lionesses well ahead of their UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 final match.

“Good luck to the Lionesses tomorrow,” William wrote. “The nation is so proud you are through to the final, after some stunning comebacks!”

He added, “We are all cheering you on!” and signed the message simply with a “W.”

Following England’s 2-1 victory over Italy in Tuesday’s semi-final, William had earlier praised the team, saying: “Brilliant performance @Lionesses! One game from glory!”

King Charles Shares Health Update While William Travels

While Prince William was departing the UK, King Charles made a public appearance in Newmarket alongside Queen Camilla, during which he offered a rare personal comment about his own health amid his ongoing cancer treatment.

During a walkabout, Charles spoke with cancer survivor Lee Harman. According to Harman, “I asked him how he was, and he said he was feeling a lot better now and that it was ‘just one of those things.’”

Harman told PA news agency, as reported by Hello! magazine, “He asked me how I was and I said ‘I’m all good,’ I got the all clear from cancer last year.”

Encouragement and Empathy from the King

Back in May, during a garden party at Buckingham Palace, the King also connected with guests facing similar health challenges.

Stamford Collis, 22, a student of international relations at Exeter University who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, said the King asked about his upcoming treatment. “He was asking me about the treatment I have starting in June and spoke to me about food and diet. He also asked me if I had undergone radiation treatment, which I had earlier this year,” Collis told The Telegraph.

According to the outlet, King Charles told him, “It’s sometimes about the diet and what you eat. It can help.”

Words of Support During Northern Ireland Visit

During a visit to Ulster University in March, the King spoke with other cancer patients, offering encouragement and acknowledging the difficulties of treatment.

He asked if they were coping with the side effects and said, “You just have to push on, don’t you.”

While Prince William cheers for the Lionesses from abroad, his father continues to offer strength and compassion at home, drawing from his own experience to connect with those going through similar battles.
