Harry Issues Rare Statement Over ‘Categorically False’ Rumors About His Reunion With Charles

King Charles and Prince Harry finally met on September 10 during the Duke of Sussex’s visit to the UK — a long-awaited sign of progress in their strained relationship.

The private meeting at Clarence House lasted 55 minutes, notably longer than their brief encounter in February 2024. While much of the media hailed it as a hopeful reunion, some outlets offered a different narrative — one that Harry’s team swiftly dismissed as false.

Reports of an “Official Visit” Denied

On September 26, The Sun published claims suggesting that Harry had described his meeting with the King as “very official, like an official visit.” The report also alleged that Harry brought a framed photo of himself and his family as a gift.

However, a spokesperson for the Duke quickly refuted those claims, telling PEOPLE, “Recent reporting of The Duke’s view of the tone of the meeting is categorically false. The quotes attributed to him are pure invention fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son. Presumably, those same sources have also chosen to disclose that gifts were exchanged.”

The spokesperson clarified that while a photo was indeed gifted, it did not feature Harry or Meghan Markle, but rather their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. “While we would have preferred such details to remain private, for the sake of clarity, we can confirm that a framed photograph was handed over; however, the image did not contain the Duke and Duchess,” the representative added.

The Sun Responds to Harry’s Statement

Following Harry’s rebuttal, a spokesperson for The Sun responded, saying, “The office of the Duke of Sussex was given full right of reply yesterday in advance of publication and opted not to give a response to The Sun’s carefully sourced account of the meeting. We have today updated the online article to include his new statement.”

A Warm but Private Reunion

The father and son shared afternoon tea at Clarence House at 5:20 p.m., marking one of their most personal interactions in recent years. Following the meeting, Harry attended a special reception for the Invictus Games, where he was asked about his father’s health. “Yes, he’s great, thank you,” he replied with a smile.

In an interview with The Guardian afterward, Harry hinted that the reunion had brought them closer to a family reconciliation, revealing that he now feels “closer” to bringing Archie and Lilibet to the UK.

A Letter That Rekindled Contact

According to Us Weekly, it was a heartfelt handwritten letter from Harry that led to the long-overdue meeting. “The meeting was sparked by a handwritten letter from Harry earlier this year to Charles expressing his desire to reconnect,” an insider revealed. “They were catching up personally about the children and what has been going on with Charles and his health.”

The source described the encounter as “super positive,” “very relaxed,” and, above all, “very emotional” — suggesting that despite the challenges of recent years, there may still be room for healing between father and son.
