Prince William is said to be furious after Meghan Markle shared what many have called an “insensitive” video filmed near the site where Princess Diana died.

The Duchess of Sussex, who made a surprise appearance at Paris Fashion Week over the weekend, attended Balenciaga’s Spring 2026 show directed by Pierpaolo Piccioli. She later posted a short reel of her trip, capturing glimpses of her limousine ride through Paris.

Meghan’s Video Sparks Backlash

In the video, Meghan can be seen resting her feet on the car seat as the camera pans to iconic Parisian landmarks, including the Pont Alexandre III and Pont des Invalides bridges along the Seine. However, the footage appears to show her heading toward the Pont de l’Alma bridge—the location of the tunnel where Princess Diana, Dodi Fayed, and their driver Henri Paul were killed in August 1997.

The clip quickly triggered widespread criticism online for its supposed lack of sensitivity. According to The Daily Mail, none were more offended than Prince William himself.

“That Tunnel Is Sacred Ground”

A palace insider told royal reporter Rob Shuter that the Prince of Wales “saw the clip and went white with anger,” describing him as “livid beyond words.”

“To him, it wasn’t just bad taste—it was personal desecration,” the source said. “That tunnel is sacred ground. For Meghan to treat it like a selfie moment was the ultimate insult.”

Another staffer added that William called the act “grotesque” and “couldn’t believe she’d film herself near the very spot that destroyed his family.”

Royal Experts Weigh In

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams also condemned the video, telling The Daily Mail: “I don’t understand what on earth she was thinking. No adviser would ever advise doing something so strange.”

“She has every right to attend fashion events, but to share a video connected in any way to the tragic death of the Princess of Wales defies belief,” he added. “She couldn’t possibly have intended to be disrespectful, but it’s another example of the Sussexes doing something that makes no sense at all.”

Divided Reactions Online

Reactions on social media were equally split. “Please tell me that’s not real? She didn’t actually do that… did she?” one user asked, while another wrote, “So distasteful. Harry, why are you still with this woman?”

Others, however, defended Meghan’s actions. “Some folks read into the most mundane of things. Why even think that?” one supporter wrote, while another commented, “This was clearly unintentional. Leave Meghan alone.”
