How King Charles has ‘protected nieces Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie’ amid their father Prince Andrew’s scandal

Princess Beatrice was spotted driving into Royal Lodge on Monday, reportedly visiting her father, Prince Andrew, just days after he announced he would give up his royal title and remaining honours.

The visit came after Andrew’s bombshell statement on Friday, October 17, in which he revealed through Buckingham Palace that he would no longer use his Duke of York title. He explained that the “continued accusations” against him had become a distraction from the work of King Charles and the wider royal family.

Beatrice Seen at Royal Lodge

Photographs published by the Daily Mail on Monday showed Beatrice driving her Range Rover into Royal Lodge, the Windsor estate where Andrew lives with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. The princess was later seen leaving the property looking sombre.

Her visit marked the first time Beatrice has been seen at her father’s residence since the announcement. The timing also coincides with renewed scrutiny of Andrew following the upcoming release of his accuser Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, which revisits her claims against the prince and their alleged meetings in the early 2000s.

Andrew has repeatedly denied all allegations of sexual assault and any wrongdoing connected to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

A Difficult Time for Beatrice and Eugenie

Royal commentators say the ongoing scandal has deeply affected Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Richard Fitzwilliams described the moment as “a deeply painful period” for the sisters.

Though the princesses remain welcome at family events such as Christmas at Sandringham, they have largely stepped back from public appearances. Over the weekend, the pair were expected to attend the Pink Ball at the British Museum, but HELLO! reports they did not show up despite being listed among the guests.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl called Beatrice and Eugenie “the most unfortunate victims” in the situation, adding: “It can’t be easy to see their parents dragged through something like this. They remain very much loved nieces of the king.”

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond echoed that sentiment, saying: “They’re extremely close to their parents and have stayed loyal through thick and thin. I’m sure they’ll be supporting Andrew and Sarah through this latest crisis, just as they have before.”

King Charles ‘Protecting’ His Nieces

According to reports, King Charles is determined to shield Beatrice and Eugenie from the fallout of their father’s decision to relinquish his titles.

A palace source told the Daily Mail that the king “wouldn’t have wanted to sign off on anything that would impact them.” Although Andrew and Sarah are reportedly no longer invited to future Christmas gatherings, the sisters remain welcome.

The Telegraph also reported that Charles holds his nieces in “high affection” and intentionally left Andrew’s titles “in abeyance” to allow Beatrice and Eugenie to continue using their “Princess of York” styling.

Andrew, who was made a Knight of the Garter in 2006, has also relinquished that honour but remains a prince by birth as the second son of Queen Elizabeth II.

In his statement, he said: “I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. With His Majesty’s agreement, I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”

Days after the announcement, the Metropolitan Police confirmed it was “actively looking” into claims that Andrew once asked his police protection officer to investigate Ms Giuffre in 2011.

Despite the storm surrounding their father, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are expected to continue maintaining low profiles — privately supporting their parents while remaining under the quiet protection of King Charles.
