Kate Middleton’s Appearance at Trooping the Colour Is Raising a Lot of Questions

If the royal family thought that Kate Middleton’s appearance at Trooping the Colour over the weekend would do anything to ease people’s concerns about her condition, they might want to think again. Following Kate’s first official royal event since announcing her cancer diagnosis, people have a lot of opinions about the way she looks — including some who think that the woman who showed up on the Buckingham Palace balcony isn’t Kate at all.

Kate joined her family on the balcony.

It wasn’t clear whether Kate would attend the king’s annual birthday parade, but at the last minute, she revealed that she would be there. Sure enough, Kate was spotted in a carriage on her way to the event before she was seen with Prince William and kids George, Charlotte, and Louis on the balcony, and so far, the royals’ social media accounts have shared plenty of footage of Kate at Trooping the Colour, too.

She looked happy, but some people are now even more suspicious.

All kinds of questions are being raised about Kate and her condition online, including in the comments on this Instagram post from Page Six.

One person didn’t mince words, simply writing, “That’s not her.”

Others are a bit baffled that she still has her hair, despite going through chemotherapy, with one commenting, “You can have chemotherapy and not lose your hair?”

The answer to that question is yes — there are different types of chemo, depending on each person’s individual situation and treatment plan, and not all of them cause hair loss.

Others claim that Kate has had plastic surgery.

On X (formerly Twitter), many people are speculating that Kate has had cosmetic procedures done during her time hiding out from the public, with some sharing side-by-side photos of the Princess of Wales to make their point.

“I wonder if this was more reconstructive work after an incident, rather than an elective surgery,” one person tweeted.

Many people are also taking this opportunity to share their support.

The comments about Kate’s appearance aren’t all speculation; on the official Instagram account for the Prince and Princess of Wales, many commenters shared their support for her.

“What a first class act the Princess is. She is such a wonderful and beautiful human. Wishing her continued good health,” one person wrote.

Another commenter added, “It was lovely to see the Princess of Wales. Hope she recovers soon. Much love.”

May Kate continue to recover.

Regardless of what’s really going on behind closed palace doors, it’s good to see Kate feeling well enough to join her family for such an important tradition. Fingers crossed we’ll see her more in the second half of this year as she continues to feel healthier and stronger.
