King Charles reduced to tears after Prince William’s telling comment about royal future

The Prince of Wales made one simple comment about his future plans which deeply moved King Charles.

King Charles gave an insight into his tight-knit bond with Prince William’ after a comment about inheritance “reduced him to tears”. Back in 2019, the monarch and the heir to the throne appeared in an ITV documentary titled Charles: Inside the Duchy of Cornwall.

Viewers got to have an in-depth look at the enormous royal estate which Charles built into a profitable business over the course of more than 50 years.

In the documentary, William appeared to talk to a farmer Mervyn Keeling about his private estate. And it was during that moment when the now Prince of Wales made a very telling comment about the future which had a particular effect on his father.

William said about the future: “I’ve started to think about how I will inherit the Duchy one day and what I do with it.

“I think it’s really important, the family angle, I really do.” Another clip showing Charles emerged where he said: “When I saw it, I couldn’t believe it.

“I was deeply touched and moved by what he said. Frankly, it reduced me to tears. It did, really. Because, I suddenly thought, well, just hearing that from him has made the last 50 years worthwhile.”

Royal commentator Camilla Tominey previously told The Telegraph: “The warmth which so obviously zings between father and son seems to signify a laying to rest of the ghosts of William’s childhood and any soreness he has felt towards his father after witnessing the traumatic fallout of his parents’ separation as a 10-year-old boy.”

The Duchy of Cornwall is a vast estate owned by the Prince of Wales and includes land, farms, houses, and other assets.

It generates income that supports the Prince of Wales, his family, and his charitable endeavours. Traditionally the duchy is obtained by the eldest son of the reigning monarch at birth or when his parent succeeds to the throne.

William inherited the £1 billion Duchy of Cornwall estate and the title of Duke of Cornwall when Charles acceded to the throne following the late Queen Elizabeth’s death in September 2022.
