Meghan Markle reveals what she would change about public’s perception of her

Meghan Markle recently opened up about how she’s perceived by the public and shared the one thing she wishes she could change.

The 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex reflected on her current life in California and the transitions she and Prince Harry have faced since stepping away from their royal roles.

Speaking on the “Aspire With Emma Grede” podcast, Meghan briefly addressed the way she and Harry are viewed in the media.

A Shift in Public Image

Host Emma Grede, an entrepreneur known for her partnerships with the Kardashian family, remarked on how much Meghan’s public image has evolved since before her relationship with Prince Harry began.

“It’s very different now,” Grede commented.
Meghan responded with a laugh, “It is, Emma! It really is.”

Grede then asked if Meghan would want to go back and reshape the public narrative from the beginning.

“Yes,” Meghan replied honestly. “I would ask people to just tell the truth.”

The Viral Video and Life Behind the Scenes

During the podcast, Meghan also talked about the now-viral clip she shared of herself and Harry dancing in a hospital room while waiting for their daughter Lilibet’s birth in 2021.

The video, featuring the couple dancing to Starrkeisha’s popular “The Baby Momma Dance,” sparked widespread online attention — and plenty of criticism. Despite that, Meghan embraced the moment.

“You’ve got to be authentic,” she told Grede. “Did you see my ‘Baby Momma’ dance?”
Grede admitted she had seen it and even “did a little secret cheer” watching it. “I love that happiness, that honesty, and that ‘I don’t give a f–k’ attitude,” she added.

Setting the Record Straight

Meghan clarified that the video was not recent, despite being posted on June 4 to celebrate Lilibet’s fourth birthday.

“That video was taken four years ago,” she said. “It’s a good reminder that even with all the noise or criticism, there’s a real life happening. A joyful, honest, and fun life behind the scenes.”

Meghan closed the conversation by expressing appreciation for having control over how she shares her life.

“I’m just really grateful that being back on social media, I now have a space to tell my story on my own terms,” she said.
