Meghan Markle’s ‘stress’ and ‘anxiety’ over Christmas with the royal family

As the holiday season approaches, all eyes are on how Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will spend Christmas this year. Sources say Harry is quietly hopeful for an invitation to the royal family’s annual Sandringham celebrations. His recent reunion with King Charles in September—the first in 19 months—seems to have fueled that hope. The pair reportedly shared a private tea together at Clarence House, marking a rare moment of personal connection.

Meghan’s Stress Over the Unknown

While Harry may feel optimistic, Meghan is reportedly feeling tense. Those close to the couple say the uncertainty is particularly stressful for her because she likes to plan months ahead. Dropping everything at the last minute to fly to the UK would throw her carefully organized schedule into disarray.

An insider told Closer that Harry understands her concerns, but he also wants her to show goodwill toward the family. “It’s a tense situation,” the source said. “She has a full schedule, and the waiting game is stressful. Harry hopes she’ll push through, but the tension is impossible to ignore.”

Who’s Attending (or Not)

The holiday guest list is also shaping up in unexpected ways. Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are reportedly skipping this year’s celebrations, and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie may also stay home in the absence of their parents. These changes could create opportunities for Harry to attend—but the lack of clarity is still weighing on Meghan.

Thanksgiving Plans in Montecito

While Christmas remains uncertain, Meghan seems to have Thanksgiving well in hand. A recent newsletter from her lifestyle brand revealed a peek at the couple’s plans. This year, they’re embracing a cozy, homegrown celebration, featuring produce from their Montecito garden.

The centerpiece turkey will be drizzled with sage honey, made from a special Santa Barbara sage grown by Meghan herself. Small touches like these show the couple creating their own traditions and focusing on family warmth, even as royal obligations loom in the background.

Creating Their Own Holiday Rhythm

For Meghan and Harry, the holidays are about balancing personal life with public expectations. Whether they spend Christmas at Sandringham or stay in California, it’s clear that they are prioritizing family moments in their own way.

Representatives for Meghan Markle and Buckingham Palace have been contacted for comment.
