Prince Harry shows true colours by ‘sending note’ to Kate after Wimbledon appearance

The Duke of Sussex is reportedly keen to make amends with the Prince and Princess of Wales in the lead up to his 40th birthday.

Royal enthusiasts were not the only ones who were delighted to see Princess Kate returning to public engagements when she attended the Wimbledon Men’s Final alongside her daughter, Princess Charlotte, and sister, Pippa Middleton.

Her outing reportedly prompted Prince Harry to reach out to his sister-in-law, who wrote her a personal note in the hope of repairing their relationship.

A source told Heat magazine: “Harry was watching Wimbledon and was thrilled to see Kate looking so radiant. He sent her a note to congratulate her and let her know how happy he was to see her out. He’s just so grateful that she’s on the mend and able to get back to her duties after taking time off – as is Meghan.”

Commenting on the fractured relationship since Harry and Meghan Markle both stepped down as senior working royals in 2020, the source added: “Harry can’t believe it ever got to this point – he genuinely thought that by now they’d have found a way to reconcile and he hates to think of it continuing.”

On July 14, Princess Kate, patron of the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club presented the trophy to the winner of the Men’s Singles Final – Carlos Alcaraz.

Princess Kate, 42, has remained out of the spotlight since her cancer diagnosis earlier this year but also made a surprise appearance at Trooping the Colour alongside the rest of the Royal Family – an event that marked her first official engagement of the year.

In a statement released last month, Kate revealed she was making good progress but was “not out of the woods yet” and had “good days and bad days” as she continued her treatment.

In time for his 40th birthday on September 15, Harry is said to be keen for their differences to be put to one side once and for all. But since his departure from the Firm, Harry and Meghan have been fiercely critical of the monarchy, from their televised interview with Oprah Winfrey to their Netflix series ‘Harry & Meghan’.

Royal critics have suggested a lot of effort needs to be shown for the two brothers, Harry and Prince William to make amends. Former BBC correspondent, Jennie Bond told Times Radio: “I think as far as William is concerned, Harry really doesn’t exist. William has enough pressure on his heart and his head, with his wife and her ongoing cancer treatment, and his father, his job and his kids that I don’t think he’s got any room in his soul to worry about his estranged brother… I think William has disowned Harry.”

Prince Harry last visited the UK for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games in May at St Paul’s Cathedral. However, he failed to see any immediate family members.

The last time the father and son duo were together was in February when Harry jetted off to London following King Charles’s cancer announcement, but he spent less than 25-hours in the UK’s capital before returning to America.

Shortly after, he flew to Vancouver, Canada to attend the ‘One Year to Go’ event ahead of the winter Invictus Games 2025.
