Prince Harry’s recent call for a reunion with his estranged family offered a moment of optimism for royal watchers.
However, insiders suggest that the attempt may have had the opposite effect, deepening mistrust within the Royal Family. Rather than opening the door to healing, experts claim Harry’s BBC interview only reinforced royal doubts about his intentions.
William’s Focus Is on the Future—Without Harry
According to royal biographer Robert Jobson, the relationship between Harry and Prince William is now beyond repair.
In a discussion with Hello! magazine, Jobson emphasized that William has moved on and is now concentrating on preparing his children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—for their future royal responsibilities. “It’s all about William now,” he said. “And him getting his children ready for their roles in the next decade or so.” Jobson added that the idea of Harry ever returning to play a meaningful role in the monarchy is “pretty much over.”
Controversial Videos and Lasting Tensions
Harry’s efforts to rebuild bridges may also be hindered by his public image. A video showing him dancing with Meghan Markle in a hospital room prior to Princess Lilibet’s birth resurfaced recently and was criticized as undignified by some observers.
While Jobson clarified that the act itself wasn’t the issue, he noted, “There’s just too much water under the bridge. Too many things have happened that can’t be easily forgotten.”
2027 Invictus Games: A Possible Reunion?
Not everyone sees the situation as completely hopeless. Royal commentator Camilla Tominey suggested that the 2027 Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham, could present an opportunity for Harry and King Charles to reconnect. “There have been talks about whether this might offer a moment for father and son to come together,” she said. However, this optimism is not universally shared.
Doubts about Harry’s sincerity deepened further when a friend claimed to the Daily Mail that the Duke had approached his uncle, Charles Spencer, for advice on changing his and his children’s surnames to that of his mother, Princess Diana.
The decision reportedly stemmed from frustration over delays in issuing passports for Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet and was intended as a slight toward his father, King Charles.
Prince William Reportedly ‘Appalled’ by Harry’s Comments
Meanwhile, sources say Prince William was deeply unsettled by Harry’s BBC appearance, particularly his suggestion that he wanted to reconnect due to their father’s health struggles.
One insider told Us Weekly, “There is no turning back for William. The door is firmly shut.” Royal historian Marlene Koenig echoed the sentiment, stating, “Bridges have been burned on both sides.”
Despite Prince Harry’s apparent desire to mend fences, royal experts suggest the damage may be permanent. Prince William remains focused on shaping the future of the monarchy—one that appears to exclude his younger brother.
