Prince Louis steals the show during VE Day procession in funny moment with dad William

Prince Louis once again stole hearts with his playful behavior during the 80th anniversary celebrations of VE Day at Buckingham Palace.

The seven-year-old royal sat next to his father, Prince William, 42, during Monday’s military parade, and it wasn’t long before he provided another viral moment. Cameras captured Louis sweetly brushing down William’s military uniform before giving the decorative golden cord on his father’s shoulder a curious tug.

Prince Louis and Prince William at the VE Day event

The clip quickly made the rounds online, with fans affectionately naming Louis the standout of the day.

“There he is, the Meme King-In-Chief himself, Prince Louis!” one Twitter user posted alongside the video.

“Prince Louis out here stealing the show again. Someone give this kid a crown already,” said another.

Others joined in with heartfelt reactions:

“Bless him, he’s just helping his dad look good!”

“I love him! He has so much charisma.”

“I bet he makes them laugh every day.”

“Louis is such a character. He brings joy to every royal event. What a treasure.”

Many called the moment “adorable,” with one fan describing him as “a true gem of the royal family.”

Louis, along with his siblings Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 10, was seated front and center on a specially constructed viewing platform in front of the Queen Victoria Memorial. Beside Prince William, Louis was seen gazing up at the sky, sticking out his tongue, and smiling wide to reveal his new gap-toothed grin — all of which delighted the crowd.

VE Day commemorations

Kate Middleton, 43, looked elegant in a magenta outfit with a coordinating pillbox hat as she sat beside Charlotte. The children were dressed in matching black formalwear for the occasion.

Kate has often marked her children’s special milestones with personal portraits. On April 23, a photo of Louis grinning for his seventh birthday was released by Kensington Palace. Just days later, Charlotte’s 10th birthday was celebrated with a snapshot of her outdoors, dressed in a camouflage jacket and backpack, shared by Kate.

The VE Day ceremony featured a powerful military procession and flypast, involving 1,300 members of the Armed Forces and NATO allies such as the U.S., France, and Germany. The event began with Winston Churchill’s 1945 victory speech, voiced by actor Timothy Spall, and concluded with a dazzling Red Arrows aerial display.

Amid ongoing challenges for the royal family — including renewed attention following Prince Harry’s recent interview — palace insiders say their current focus remains on honoring VE Day and the memory of those who served.

As more commemorative events lead up to the official anniversary on May 8, the royal family will remain in the spotlight, with young Prince Louis continuing to charm the public at every turn.
