Prince William leaves Kate Middleton in hysterics with unfortunate mishap during Northern Ireland trip

Prince William had his wife, Kate Middleton, in hysterics this week after a lighthearted baking mishap during the couple’s visit to Northern Ireland.

On Tuesday, the Prince and Princess of Wales stopped by Long Meadow Cider, a family-run apple farm in County Armagh, after visiting the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service Learning and Development College in County Tyrone earlier in the day.

At the cider farm, the royal couple were invited to show off their culinary skills by making traditional potato apple bread — but things didn’t exactly go smoothly for the future king.

Wearing matching aprons, William and Kate got to work rolling out their dough. But while Kate quickly shaped hers into a neat circle, William struggled to keep his from turning into something more abstract.

“Do keep up,” he joked to Kate, before one staff member gently advised him to “try and keep it into a circle.”

Laughing, William replied, “A circle? Now you tell me! If you look this way, it looks like a circle. A rectangle circle. This is a new variety!”

Kate couldn’t stop laughing as her husband tried to salvage his misshapen dough. At one point, he even dropped the rolling pin and started using his hands instead, determined to make it work.

Meanwhile, Kate’s perfectly shaped bread drew praise from those watching, while William continued to laugh at his own efforts. “How does that look like a circle,” he teased, “when this is clearly a rectangle?”

Fans were quick to comment on the couple’s playful chemistry after clips of the moment surfaced online. “They’re both so fabulous — a great sense of humour,” one royal watcher wrote. Another joked, “I’m with you, William — not enough space to make a round one.”

Others praised Kate’s calm focus, with one fan noting, “I love that Catherine just keeps going… she obviously has real kitchen experience.”

After the baking fun, William and Kate learned about the cider-making process, watching how apples are pressed and sampled the farm’s homemade apple juice. “We tried this at home with a hand press,” Kate reportedly said. “It was quite good fun with the children — very messy, though!”

The couple also joined in some apple picking during their visit. Long Meadow Cider has been owned and operated by the McKeever family for three generations, and their royal guests’ laughter-filled afternoon added another memorable moment to its history.
