As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle approach their seventh wedding anniversary, tensions between the couple and the rest of the royal family remain evident. Despite Harry’s recent comments expressing a desire for reconciliation, there has been little sign of improvement in relations.
While senior royals continue with their official duties, an old claim about Princess Anne’s early impression of Meghan has resurfaced. According to royal commentator Neil Sean, Anne may have predicted that Meghan’s time as a working royal would be short-lived.
Anne’s advice and Meghan’s reaction
Sean claimed in a video that when Meghan first joined the royal family, she sought advice from Princess Anne. Known for her no-nonsense approach and dedication to duty, Anne reportedly told Meghan to treat her royal position as a job rather than a celebrity platform. She emphasized the importance of preparation, punctuality, and service over seeking the spotlight.
According to the commentator, Meghan was surprised by the advice and may not have taken it to heart. He added that Anne believed Meghan would struggle to adapt to the demands of royal life — a prediction that, in hindsight, seemed to align with the couple’s decision to step back from official duties in 2020.
Meghan’s bond with Princess Eugenie
While Meghan’s relationships with most senior royals have reportedly been strained, she has maintained a close friendship with Princess Eugenie. The two are said to have known each other even before Meghan met Harry, through mutual friends such as fashion designer Misha Nonoo.
Despite past reports of tension — including claims that Harry and Meghan’s pregnancy announcement overshadowed Eugenie’s wedding — the two couples have remained in contact. Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank even visited the Sussexes in California after they stepped down from their roles.
Though public support may not always be visible, Eugenie is believed to remain one of the few royal family members still on good terms with Harry and Meghan.
