Princess Catherine and Prince William Are Reportedly ‘Arguing’ over Son George’s Future, According to Royal Experts

As the eldest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince George’s future is already under close public watch—not only because of his role in the monarchy, but also due to the choices being made about his education.

Though still young, George’s secondary school options are reportedly sparking debate between his parents, Prince William and Princess Catherine. According to British broadcaster Helena Chard, “The discussions have been circulating for years,” and the decision is proving to be a personal and symbolic one for the royal couple.

George, who currently attends Lambrook School with his siblings, has visited several potential schools, including Eton College, the alma mater of both William and Harry. The tour drew widespread attention, as Eton has long been the favored institution for royals. However, Catherine is said to be considering other options, including Marlborough College, which she and her siblings attended.

While Eton is close to the family’s home and known for tradition and security, Marlborough offers a more relaxed co-educational environment, which Catherine reportedly sees as more nurturing. Chard noted, “Eton wasn’t suitable for Prince Harry. Even Princess Catherine was bullied at a secondary school. Therefore, she is committed to securing the perfect fit for Prince George.”

Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner added that William favors Eton due to its prestige, while Catherine leans toward a setting that prioritizes emotional well-being. Expert Hilary Fordwich echoed this, saying Catherine prefers George to live at home and be near his siblings, rather than boarding.

With four terms left at Lambrook, the decision remains unsettled, and experts like Richard Fitzwilliams believe the choice will ultimately reflect how William and Catherine envision the monarchy’s future. While tradition holds weight, Fitzwilliams pointed out that William himself broke with precedent by going to Eton, rather than following Charles to Gordonstoun.

Outside of school decisions, George recently made headlines after attending the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match in Paris with William. Wearing matching Aston Villa scarves, the father and son shared joyful moments, including cheering and celebrating goals together.

A viral slow-motion video captured William hugging George and beaming with pride, offering a rare glimpse into their close bond. William later spoke about the outing during an interview, saying, “It’s been 43 years since something like this happened during my generation… I want George to experience a night out away from home in a big European competition.”

Despite the warm scenes, online reactions to George’s expressions during the game were mixed. Some viewers thought he looked bored or embarrassed, while others offered more sympathetic takes, suggesting he was caught in a quiet moment or simply overwhelmed.

Public commentary also focused on George’s growing height and resemblance to his father, with many remarking on how mature he looks for his age. As is often the case with royal appearances, the young prince drew a combination of admiration, curiosity, and criticism—highlighting the constant spotlight he’s under as the future king.
