Queen Camilla ‘may never forgive Meghan and Harry’

Queen Camilla has long been one of King Charles’ closest allies — both privately and publicly — especially through the royal family’s most turbulent chapters. But as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remain distant from “The Firm” and attempts at reconciliation with the King quietly progress, many are asking: what role does Queen Camilla play in this fractured dynamic?

According to recent royal sources, the Queen has consciously taken a step back from the ongoing tensions between Charles and his younger son. “She stays out of it,” a royal insider reportedly told the press in July 2025. While Camilla is known to be a key emotional support for the monarch, particularly during major family milestones — from the Queen Mother’s passing to Charles’ coronation — she appears to be keeping a neutral distance when it comes to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Behind the scenes, however, there’s little indication of a warm relationship between the Queen and the Sussexes. In his 2023 memoir Spare, Prince Harry described feeling “sacrificed” on Camilla’s “personal PR altar,” alleging she leaked stories to the press to improve her own reputation. He also shared that he and Prince William had pleaded with their father not to marry her, fearing what it might mean for the family dynamic.

When asked about her directly in interviews, Harry has chosen his words carefully. While stopping short of criticism, he made clear that he and Meghan don’t have a relationship with the Queen. “She’s my stepmother,” he told Good Morning America. “We’re perfectly pleasant with each other when we see one another.”

A history of tension and no clear signs of healing

Camilla’s public silence on the matter has often been interpreted as grace under pressure — but some insiders suggest deeper feelings remain.

Back in 2021, journalist Camilla Tominey wrote in The Telegraph that Queen Camilla — then Duchess of Cornwall — was unlikely to forgive Harry and Meghan for their public criticism of Charles. An anonymous source quoted at the time claimed: “I don’t think the Duchess will ever forgive Meghan for what she’s done to the Prince of Wales.”

While King Charles has reportedly kept communication lines open with his youngest son — especially since his own cancer diagnosis — the relationship between Camilla and the Sussexes appears more distant, if not entirely broken.

Still, Queen Camilla seems focused on supporting her husband in his role as monarch, not getting pulled into personal grievances. “She understands the need to be by his side — as the Duke of Edinburgh was for the Queen,” one aide said. “And she’s not daunted by that.”

As royal watchers speculate on the future of Harry’s relationship with the rest of the family, it seems unlikely that Camilla will play a direct part in any reunion — but her quiet influence, as ever, remains in the background.
