King Charles has been making public appearances lately and was spotted using a walking stick.
The 76-year-old monarch attended the Royal Windsor Horse Show on Saturday, May 17, followed by the Chelsea Flower Show on Monday, May 19.
On both occasions, he was seen with a walking stick — and now, the reason for it appears to have been uncovered.

Why is the king using a walking stick?
According to HELLO!, the walking stick used by the King is simply a traditional country fair stick — not a medical aid.
In her later years, the late Queen Elizabeth II was also seen with a walking stick, reportedly to support her movement.
Royal Insider has reached out to Buckingham Palace for a statement.
King Charles has been spotted using a walking stick at numerous royal events over the years. In fact, he was photographed with one as far back as the late 1990s and early 2000s, so his recent use isn’t out of the ordinary.

King Charles at the Chelsea Flower Show 2025
On Monday, King Charles and Queen Camilla made an appearance at the Chelsea Flower Show.
While there, they chatted with several celebrities, including football icon David Beckham, who recently celebrated his 50th birthday on May 2.
According to The Sun, King Charles asked him, “You got it, didn’t you?”
David responded, “It was incredible. Thank you, it was very kind.”
Queen Camilla also joined in, saying, “Nice to see you again, glad you got the roses.”

Latest on King Charles’ health
The king’s health has been in the spotlight since February, when it was publicly revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer and had started treatment.
At the time, the palace released a statement saying: “His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
In March, he spent some time in the hospital to manage side effects from the ongoing treatment.
This led to the postponement of his scheduled engagements that week, with the king continuing to work from home. Still, he resumed his duties just a few days later.
Though he remains in treatment, King Charles has continued carrying out his public responsibilities. He’s expected to take part in the 2025 Trooping the Colour celebration this June — the annual event that marks the monarch’s official birthday.
He will likely appear alongside other senior members of the royal family, including Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
