Tearful Adele gives emotional speech during final Vegas show as she recalls ‘worst year of her life’ after cancelling 2022 shows

Adele wrapped up her monumental two-year Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum with an emotional farewell on Saturday night.

The 36-year-old singer celebrated the end of this transformative journey with heartfelt gratitude, kissing her son Angelo and fiancé Rich Paul after delivering a candid speech on stage.

The 36-year-old singer called her start in Sin City “f****** rocky” and described 2022 as the “worst year of her life” after canceling shows at the last minute.

Reflecting on the residency’s rocky beginnings, Adele described 2022 as the “worst year of her life,” recalling how she canceled all 24 shows less than 24 hours before the first performance. The cancellation was attributed to COVID-19 complications among her team and insufficient time to prepare, leaving fans who had paid up to $30,000 for tickets devastated.

During her final performance, Adele expressed her deep emotions to the 5,000-strong crowd, admitting, “I am so sad that this residency is over and so glad that it happened.” She acknowledged the backlash she faced for the last-minute cancellation, noting, “I was told it was career suicide, and Vegas would never forgive me.” However, she emphasized how proud she was of her decision, stating, “If something doesn’t feel right, don’t f****** do it.”

Adele kissed her son Angelo and fiancé Rich Paul after an emotional speech marking the end of her two-year Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace.

Adele also thanked her team, fans, and Las Vegas for giving her a second chance. Following her speech, she joined the audience to embrace Rich Paul, to whom she confirmed her engagement earlier this year, and her son, whom she shares with ex-husband Simon Konecki.

The residency, titled “Weekends with Adele,” was originally announced in late 2021 but faced significant hurdles, including the highly publicized cancellations. In an emotional Instagram post at the time, Adele apologized to fans, explaining how delays and COVID-19 issues had made it impossible to proceed. Despite the initial turmoil, the residency turned into a massive success, with each performance reportedly earning her $685,000.

Fighting back tears, she said, “Had I done the show I canceled, I wouldn’t be here tonight celebrating my 100th performance.”

As the residency came to an end, Adele opened up about the toll it had taken on her physically and emotionally. Performing live every weekend for two years left her “battered,” and she admitted to needing several days to recover between shows. She humorously compared her post-performance appearance to the “pigeon lady from *Home Alone*,” adding that she often didn’t get home until the early hours.

She was visibly emotional throughout her heartfelt speech.

Now, Adele is ready to take a well-earned break. In an interview ahead of her final show, she revealed plans to prioritize rest, reconnect with her family, and enjoy simple pleasures like staying in bed, watching TV, and indulging in red wine—something she previously avoided to protect her vocal cords. “I feel like I’m already early hibernating,” she said, looking forward to a slower pace.

On stage, Adele sipped wine and told the 5,000-strong crowd, “I’m so sad this residency is over, but I’m so glad it happened.”

Touching on her bittersweet feelings about ending the residency, Adele shared that it had been four years in the making and represented a significant chapter in her career. She now plans to focus on her personal life, expressing excitement about spending quality time with her children, fiancé, and even considering expanding her family.

Adele’s journey in Las Vegas showcased not only her artistry but also her resilience, proving that staying true to oneself can lead to triumph even after a challenging start.
